Who I am…

My name is Sarah and I’m a wife, a mother of two, and an Assistant News Director. I run my household much like a newsroom– everything is chaos, but I push daily for integrity and teamwork.

I’ve been in news for about 13 years, but I did take a year and a half off in my 20s to open a coffee shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

More on that wild endeavor here!

I sold it, moved home to Detroit to get back into news where I ended up meeting the love of my life in a bar after about 7 too many tequila shots. 😂

In 2016 we moved to Pittsburgh for my career. My husband, Josh, finished up school at Pitt (after being in the Coast Guard) and is now a mechanical engineer.

We have a 6-year-old daughter, Annabelle who is NO princess, but instead a Pokémon trainer 😂 and in November 2017 we welcomed our son, Hayden.

We bought an old home that needed work in the suburb of Mount Lebanon, just outside downtown Pittsburgh. We thought that would be where we’d settle… but life had other plans for us.

In July 2018, we moved to Omaha, again for my career. (Yes, I do have a super supportive husband who encourages my goals and a resilient pair of kids who don’t care where they live as long as we’re all together).

Our first Halloween in Omaha.

The unexpected move led to us becoming landlords. See how we quickly got our home ready for renters and follow us as we hope to build equity in our 1930s Craftsman, while making improvements from 1,000 miles away.
